The Education Day for the members of St John the Evangelist Self-Help Group (SHG) Githiga Catholic Church was a successful event focused on spiritual grounding, financial empowerment, and group networking.

Start of the Day

The event began with the Arrival of Members of Management and was spiritually inaugurated with a Mass, setting a strong foundation for the day's proceedings. Following a short break, the day officially commenced with Introduction Remarks and the Chairman's Speech.

Core Educational Focus

The central and most significant part of the program was the Personal Finance Management session. The external facilitator was tasked with guiding members specifically on:

  • Budgeting

  • Savings

  • Loan Management

Critically, the facilitator was also instructed to drive group growth by encouraging members to refer others to strengthen the SHG's network. This network expansion is intended as a practical strategy to address guarantorship issues and facilitate the formation of guarantorship cells within the group.

The members' engagement was high, as demonstrated by the dedicated Questions and Answers session that immediately followed the main training.

The program included valuable input from key partners, featuring speeches from the Zonal Representative and representatives from Caritas Microfinance Bank and Caritas Nairobi, highlighting the group's broader network and access to financial resources. The achievements of members were celebrated during the Awards segment.

The Education Day formally concluded with Closing Remarks (Vote of Thanks) and Final Prayers. The Management of St John the Evangelist SHG extended their heartfelt appreciation to all attendees, stating that their active participation led to the event's "great success."
